Customer Services

How to order

All paintings and merchandise can be purchased from me.

Just send me a quick email. We can then sort out payments through PayPal or BACS payments.

If you have any initial questions, e.g., the shipping costs of framed artwork, gift wrapping, etc., please don’t hesitate to contact me; I’m here to help.

NB I don’t offer direct online purchasing through my shop because all of my work is hung in my gallery space here at Farfield Mill, Sedbergh, Cumbria.

This means that there is a slim chance a customer visiting the Mill could buy a piece of my artwork before I’ve had the opportunity to take it off my website. If this happens, I will inform you immediately.

Payments

I accept payment by bank transfer in the UK (BACS), or PayPal.  Please email me for further details.

Money back guarantee

If the artwork arrives and you’re not satisfied with your original purchase for any reason, please notify me of your intent to return the work for a refund no later than 7 days from the date of delivery.

You may return any eligible artwork, provided that it is returned to me in its original condition and packaging.

The 30 Day money-back guarantee does NOT apply to:

  • Sale or Clearance items
  • Custom framed paintings or prints
  • Commissioned work of any kind

You can return any product within 30 days of the date of you receiving the goods, provided they are complete, undamaged, and in their original packaging. When I receive all items and ascertain that they are in saleable condition, we will refund you the cost of the products, less our shipping charge. We will not cover the shipping costs for returning items due to you changing your mind.

For complete information, see the Returns section in the terms and conditions.

All orders are subject to our full terms and conditions and all personal data you provide is handled in accordance with our privacy policy.

Delivery times

I always try to ship orders quickly. I try to post greetings cards and other small merchandise items out the same day I receive the order, but if I receive the order over a weekend, sometimes this can take a little longer.

The shipping of artwork can take longer depending on whether the work is framed or not. I like to make sure the paintings are very carefully packed and protected for courier transport.

I endeavour to ship artwork within 3-4 days. If there is a delay for any reason, I will be in touch to let you know.

The time it takes to get to you will depend on your location and which shipping method you have chosen.

UK Shipping

After receiving your email about purchasing a painting, shipping will be calculated based on the type of products you are interested in and the combined weight of all the products in your order.

International Shipping

I will ship internationally, but you will need to email me so we can discuss this further.

You will be responsible for any Duty and tax that is applicable.  It is standard practice when buying from anywhere outside your own country and the amount of tax and duty will depend on trade agreements in place between our two countries.

I cannot tell you how much that will be, so you need to investigate this yourself if you are concerned about the possibility of extra costs.

l will not refund my shipping charges if your failure to pay tax or duty results in the order being returned to me.

Returns

I’ve changed my mind, can I return something?

If you’re not absolutely delighted with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days and as long as I receive it in a saleable condition, you will be entitled to exchange or a full refund of the product price.  You will need to pay the postage fees to return it to me.

If you would like to exchange the item for something different, any resulting extra cost will need to be paid by you, or if the new item is of lower value, then I will issue a partial refund for your overpayment.

What if my order arrives damaged?

I take every precaution to ensure that all products are securely packaged to give them as much protection as possible on their journey to you.

If the item is damaged, please notify me within 3 days so I can lodge a complaint with the postal service or courier. Please take photographs of any damage, both external packaging and the contents, and send them as soon as you can (it helps us with insurance claims).Once I have photos, I will be in touch with details of how to proceed, but rest assured, you will never be out of pocket if something is damaged in transit. If possible, I will exchange the item, but if that is not possible, we will issue a full refund.

What if my order never arrives?

Original paintings, large prints, and valuable items are always shipped with tracking, so it is very rare for something to get lost in the post.

I have to wait a minimum period before I can claim for a lost package (it varies according to which carrier is used), so please allow 7 days before getting in touch.

Always remember to check your garden, outbuildings, or anywhere else that could be used to leave a parcel and check with your neighbours too in case it has been mis-delivered.

Unfortunately, I cannot chase up a lost package or offer any refund if you have provided an incorrect address.

Arrange a Return or Report a problem

If something goes wrong, I will do my best to sort it out quickly.  Please use this form to let me have as much information as possible and I will get back to you with details of what steps to take next.

Please do not post the item back first, as in some cases, it may not be necessary and you will incur unecessary postage charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay for paintings in instalments?

I am happy to discuss the option of paying for an original painting in instalments for no longer than 6 months.

A standing order would need to be set up to my bank account, and I would keep the painting until the painting was paid for in full. A red sticker would be placed on the artwork for this period.

If the artwork were not paid for within the agreed time, I would reserve the right to remove the red sticker and re-sell the painting. Any money paid would not be reimbursed.

Can I see the paintings before I buy?

Of course! I have a studio which is open to the public at Farfield Mill, Sedbergh, Cumbria LA10 5LW

Please visit https://www.farfieldmill.org/ for opening times etc.

Please email me before your visit to ensure that I will be in the studio on that day.

Can I change the frame?

Unfortunately, this is not something that I offer currently.

If you want a different frame, then I would recommend taking it to a local picture framer where you will have a choice of frames and mounts that you can try out against the painting.

Can I hang my framed watercolour in a conservatory or bathroom?

Unfortunately, it is not advisable to hang a watercolour painting in a bathroom due to the moisture in the room. This can make the paper cockle and twist behind the glass.

Equally, it is not a good idea to hang a watercolour in a conservatory due to the sun, which can cause the painting to fade over time. The best place to hang your picture is out of direct sunlight.
